D.A.R.E.

Founded in 1983, D.A.R.E.’s mission is to provide children with the information and skills necessary to live drug and violence free lives. The partnership of local law enforcement and local schools to deliver a comprehensive curriculum to children has become the largest school-based prevention education program in the country and worldwide. The success of this innovative program has reached millions of children continued in schools today.
In 2006, the Fruitland Police Department re-introduced the D.A.R.E. program to 5th grade students at the Fruitland Intermediate School. This curriculum consists of nine sessions followed by a graduation in which parents, faculty and other community leaders have an opportunity to attend. The Fruitland Police Department looks forward each year to presenting this valuable program to Fruitland’s youth in an effort to provide a positive foundation for them to make healthy decisions in their lives.
